The news this morning reported another motorcycle death. Have you ever drove one or ridden one? How do you feel about it? What experiences have you had with one? Do you think they are safe? Do you think that motorcycles are dangerous? I was once given a ride by a coworker and he had to show off and I never accepted a ride again. I did drive one in the country but I did not go fast and so I did not worry. These days I would not drive one or ever accept ride on one. How do feel about riding a motorcycle?

Someone gave me a ride once and did the same thing, showed off. Terrified me. I won't go on one again. Yes, I think they're dangerous. People have no common sense. I see more helmetless drivers than those with helmets.

@just4him Ys, a motorcycle accident can be deadly and so it's wise to wear a helmet. If our first experience at something is frightening then we become afraid to do something again.

My friend was laughing and I wanted to get off as quickly as possible. Here it is illegal to ride one without a helmet but some people still do.

@1hopefulman I don't know if it's illegal, but it's advised to wear one. My friend did the same. When I got off, he didn't even apologize for scaring the heck out of me. I haven't been on one since. That was over 25 years ago.

My dad used to have a motorcycle as a young adult in Japan. Apparently he fell off a bridge . . . and although I don't have much other details about it, he has always told us never to get a motorcycle. I see how motorcyclists ride on the streets and how risky it could be . . . I have no desire to have one!

It's fun but the risk is higher than three-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles.

So sorry to hear of that accident you heard of. I have ridden with my dad many times, and a few times with my friend. Always wear a helmet. I used to think I wanted to own/drive one of my own. Now I don't know. It's risky.

Accidents seem to happen regularly in a big city as there are many motorcycles. Unless it was in the country where there is no traffic, I don't want to be on one either.

@FayeHazel If you don't feel safe then best to avoid getting on one. If ever you get a friend that has one, you could try getting on one in an empty parking lot just to get the feel of it.

@1hopefulman It' s a good point... I wondered to myself where I could go on a Motorcycle - and I decided that everywhere I wanted to go included town and traffic. Not the best idea

I have rode in tandem with my male teacher before and the motorcycle skidded from a wet road. We mever stumbled down. My teacher put a brake and controlled the bike. I got a bruise in my left knee.

Good song. Though I prefer others of theirs. I have ridden motorcycles, but would not do so in traffic. Every morning, when I commute, I hear news of motorcycle accidents, often fatal, even though cars outnumber motorcycles by orders of magnitude. Not for me.

I rode one for many years. They are fun, fast and yes dangerous. But the biggest danger comes from other people who do not take the time to look out for them. They are so small compared to cars they are exceedingly easy to overlook. The rider, if they ride on the streets has to train themselves to react very fast and be ready at any moment for a car doing something odd in front of or worse beside them. My brother was the victim of a man who ran a stop sign, My brother survived but the damage to his leg was enough to end his hopes of a professional baseball career.
