Bagpipe Appreciation Day National Dance Day 1694 - A Royal charter is granted to the Bank of England. 1940 - The character of Bugs Bunny is introduced in "A Wild Hare". 1948 - Peggy Fleming was born. She is an American figure skater and sportscaster. She was the 1968 Olympic champion and three-time World champion. 2003 - Bob Hope (pictured above) passed away at the age of 100. He was an English-American actor, comedian, TV personality, businessman, vaudevillian, singer, dancer, author and athlete. He started out as a boxer in the 1910s. By the early 1920s he had started his entertainment career. He hosted the Academy Awards 19 times and appeared in more than 70 short and feature films. He wrote 14 books. "Thanks for the Memory" was his signature song (below). He is probably best-remembered for the USO shows he did for the military between 1941-1991. He was born in 1903.
