It is one thing to have a great time in the outdoors with a group of your close friends for some rest and relaxation.
However sometimes Mother Nature will throw a curve ball at anyone when we least expect it.
A group of nine Girl Scouts and their guide were having some rest and relaxation at the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness which is located near the Minnesota-Canada border region on Saturday morning when a thunderstorm hit the region.
Two Girl Scouts were struck by lightning. Do not panic, they were shaken up by the shock of the lightening strike but thank goodness members of the St. Louis County Rescue Squad answered the call to take all of the Girl Scouts and their guide away from the venue were they staying at to be taken to Moose Island around 4am local time by a boat. .
I know if I were in their shoes, just seeing some bad weather come to their camp overnight on Saturday would make me appreciate my days of living on this world.

I agree with you JellyBelly since it was a close call for the guide and the Girl Scouts under her watch.

Ah yes. This is in my state! I heard about this one. Glad they were OK. That area is VERY remote and to be honest, I am surprised they even take girl scouts OUT that far. Many of the campsites you have to CANOE to and backpack into up there.

I did not know that some campsites like the one where the incident took place in your state are remote places for the Girl Scouts to have a day off.

My pleasure to share this scary story that could be on a science fiction show one day.

I am sure that the guide used her cellphone to ask for help after the storm hit the area.

The only time I was outside in a lightning storm, I was on my bike. That was scary, and probably stupid. Fortunately I did not get hit. These girls were just minding their own business and did get hit. Glad they are ok.
