Once upon a time I used to be able to play this fine sport of miniature golf. Despite my horrid showing today, I’m tied for third, and only seven shots off the lead. It feels like I’m 107 shots, as poorly as I played. But tomorrow’s another day. As for right now, I’ll give you another song that features Don Henley singing on it. I mentioned at the beginning there’d be a “left field” entry, and here it is. #8: Watching TV - Roger Waters So what’s an Eagle doing on an album by a Pink Floyd guy? That’s what I thought when I first read about this, wondering if there was another Roger Waters in music (don’t laugh: there’s Jumpin’ Gene Simmons of “Haunted House” fame and Gene Simmons of Kiss, and Mick Jones of the Clash and Mick Jones of Foreigner [and rock’s Lou Reed and bluegrass’ Lou Reid, but their names are spelled differently]). Heck, I play golf with Brian Johnson, John Roberts, Pat Riley, and Kevin Love....but NOT the AC/DC, Chief Justice, or basketball guys. No, it’s that Roger Waters, all right, and on yet another concept album (whodathunkit) about primates playing with the cable remote we find Mr. Henley showing up. This is “typical” dark Waters (ha, see what I did there), but with an added bonus of Don Henley supplementing the vocals on a brutal song about the broadcast deaths of protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989.
