So today we had to go to the pet store and get two clean up crew fish as we call them. We end up with Chinese’s algae eaters. Took them home and we also only paid for $2 on them since we had a discount and they had a sale today at the pet store on the aquatic stuff. They counted as part of the sale. Yay! Brought them home floated them for a little bits. Then released them into the tank with there new tank mates. My husband added two drops do some algae killer into the tank to help as well. My son’s tank was looking pretty green there with it. We left for bet after release them and came home and the tank is already to start looking better.

We have a pet bonus card so we get emails and stuff for when sales happen and using the card will add points that gives us discounts over time. Since we buy often things for the ferrets and the fish we get discounts often.

I will not buy Chinese Algae Eaters because when they get larger they do not eat algae but rather will go after higher protein including the slime coating of other fish. They have even been known to kill larger fish such as discus and even Oscars.

My husband knows what they do. They are part of clean up and they do clean up some algae. We don’t have any discus we did have Oscars but we have like 9 takes so moving the right type of fish with the right kind of fish-mates isn’t hard.
