Everything went well with the colonoscopy today! Nothing surprising, no polyps or tumors; and, I already knew about the diverticulosis. So next time I have one I'll be singing "When I'm 64." But now, I'm singing a different type of tune, one with Don Henley as a background singer. Here's today's selection. #5: Rider in the Rain - Randy Newman And yet another surprise, right? Randy Newman shows up? Wow, how shocking. Well, as I said previously, a lot of these acts came from the same "scene" (the 70s singer/songwriter L.A. soft/country rock era), so it's not surprising that they knew one another and guested on one another's albums. Here we have Newman being the smartass he's always been, singing about the title character who's "going to Arizona" after spending a life of being a "desperado, raped and pillaged 'cross the plains." The funny thing about this is, when the album came out, those buffoons at Rolling Stone thought he was making fun of the Eagles because of the word desperado, as if the Eagles had invented the word.
