Plastic Pollution Strikes Again.

I know you're probably tired of my posts about plastic pollution; but it's getting so bad that it's hard to ignore.
Thousands of plastic bags were pulled from the waters off Greece's Andros Island this month. A team of environmentalists and divers were only able to clean up a portion of all the plastic waste. They also took 300 kg (660 pounds) of fishing nets out of the water. In a separate operation off Salamina they pulled up 2 tons of nets.
In 2011 heavy rain caused a landfill to collapse; and most of the materials washed into the sea.
Greece produces about 700,000 tons of plastic waste a year -- about 68 kilos per person. About 11,500 tons ends up in the water each year; and almost 70% of that returns to its coastline which is one of the longest in the world.
The Mediterranean is one of the seas with the highest level of plastic pollution in the world.
This is all so sad. What do you think?
