At first diabetes mellitus effect in the retina and kidneys. After that it affect the arteries that supply blood to the heart, brain and lower extremities. Erectile dysfunction is a common problem in diabetes mellitus. The term erectile dysfunction has largely replaced the term impotence. The patients of diabetes mellitus cannot achieve the satisfactory of sexual intercourse. The hypertension is primary complication of diabetic patient. Hypertension increases the risk of stroke and cardiac attack.

I take it you are referring to Type 2 Diabetes? Many people live to old age with mild versions of this disease, which can be kept under control quite easily.
