I was watching a documentary about the American sitcom "The Brady Bunch" and it was pretty revealing. It said actor Robert Reed (who played the father Mike Brady) was actually very uncomfortable on the show, and threatened to walk out on the show before production on the 2nd season even started. This is somewhat surprising to me, because to see Bob onscreen, he seemed comfortable & natural, guess he was just that great an actor.

I loved that show. "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!" And the clothes. Sorry to hear about Robert Reed. He never should have signed on if he wasn't comfortable on the show.

Was Reed's discomfort because he was gay?

According to his co-star Florence Henderson, that was part of it, but it was quite a bit more complicated. Bob also detested his character on the show, among other things. Ironic enough though, was his relationship to the children that played his on screen family. Surprisingly, he had a great off screen bond with them, despite his issues w/playing their father on the show.

@jnrdutton He probably considered himself a "serious actor" and this was beneath him.
