Elderly man gets rescued from his Virginia home after five days

It is a shame that some elderly people do not have a caretaker to watch over them when they are by themselves inside a home.
Glenn Smith whose age was not released was inside his home in Arlington Virginia last month when he suffered a fall inside his kitchen and due to his falling health, he could not get up.
However Glenn was able to drink Coca Cola that was within his reach for a period of five days before a postal carrier contacted Glenn's neighbor to contact the police to find out what was happening inside the Smith home since the mail started to pile up outside his home.
The Arlington police then arrived and went inside the Smith home to find Glenn on the floor injured from his fall.
The police then contacted the Arlington Fire Department to transport Glenn to the Virginia Hospital Center where is in stable condition.
My respects go to the postal carrier, the neighbor who contacted the police to assist Glenn in his time of need.
Maybe Glenn could not afford to have one of those life alert products that are seen on television ads.

I am sure that five days waiting for help was terrible for him to go through.

I do not know what to say. My heart goes out to senior citizens that have no one. I see how poorly people get treated often & out of my control.

The funny thing is a relative takes care of an elderly parent, they are lampooned by the new media as "Mama's Boys." or "Living in Ma's basement."

@Deepizzaguy Girls also. Then, kids doing their darndest for family members get criticized that they are not doing enough. I hate when people treat, senior citizens especially, like they are not "all there" when the truth is they are.

Too sad for that man who is living alone in his home; I guess he should have some whistle or any alarm that you mentioned to call the attention of the neighbors or anyone passing by his home.

That would be a good idea since he could not afford to have one of those life alert devices that he could carry on his hand to ask for help when he is in trouble.

It's a shame when the elderly don't have someone to check up on them; but I'm glad this story had a happy ending.

Better to be saved than winding up in the bad news pages.
