Nash County Sheriff's Office deputy Brooks Heath was on his way home from work on June 30 when he decided to assist 11 year old Trey Snow who was looking for someone to rescue his 7 month old female dog named Riley who was trapped inside an outdoor bash fish holding tank.
Brooks used his ratchet strap around the collar of Riley who was struggling to get out of the tank for a period of a few hours after she left her owner's home and went to a neighbor's property out of being curious.
Trey is very thankful that an off duty deputy played the role of savior of his best friend Riley on the fateful day in Rocky Mount North Carolina.

Police officers finding lost pets and reuniting them with their owners is a great story that I enjoy sharing here.

What the deputy did to save the dog is an act of kindness that we should all follow his example since I love dogs.

Dogs never cease to amaze me when they get in trouble since they have a curious nature.

I am so glad he was there to help rescue the dog. The dog must have been so scared and Trey must have been so scared and felt helpless too.

I agree with you since I know how Trey felt seeing his dog helpless inside the well.

I also can imagine how helpless Trey must have felt that he could not get his dog out himself.

I'm glad the deputy helped this poor dog escape. Maybe Trey will make sure the dog is confined to her own yard in the future.

I am sure that Trey will be careful dealing with his dog next time he goes outside his home.

Despite what the media tells us on their newscasts, there are some good people in this world after all.

She looks lovely, funny thing about Pitt Bulls especially female ones they are so nice. Was considered the Icon of America as far as dogs go, now people just throw the breed out most, not all.

It is a shame that some dog breeds are given a bad reputation due to a few bad apples.
