The Physical body gets destroyed but there are two more invisible bodies and a soul. The two invisible bodies are called sookshma and Karana(Causal)
The soul goes around for some time with these two bodies and comes back to earth along with the rain and gets into the plants. When the plant(fruit etc) is eaten by the animal form the body is formed again.
