So last week after going to my daughter's school info session meeting, we decided to go get some ice cream. Went to this Big Ice cream house in South Brisbane because of my daughter's best friend (Miss M's) recommendation. So the friend ordered hers first and paid with her card. Then I ordered mine 2 scoops of coconut lychee and Izzy's 1 scoop of mango ice-cream. The lady who served us, asked me, "is she with you" and I said yes assuming she was talking about my daughter. So I paid with my debit card, the total should have been $12.20. We enjoyed the ice cream it was actually delicious and the place was really cool and classy. Afterwards we drop off Miss M home and Izzy and I went home. late the following night as I was checking my spending on the banking app, I noticed that the ice cream shop charged me $17.60. I think to my self, that cant be right, then I tried to remember what happened that night and it dawned on me that they charged me for the ice cream that Miss M had ordered and paid for. The lady was referring to Miss M when she asked me "is she with you?" she assumed she hadn't paid for her ice cream and charged me again for something that's already been paid for. Well I usually don't make a big fuss about this if it was just a few cents or a dollar eve, but I t was so annoying after all $5.40 is $5.40. And it was the first time we visited that place. So I went to their Facebook page sent them a DM. They sent me a message back apologising and asked me to choose between them sending me the exact amount on my bank account or a voucher worth $20. I didn't really want to send them my bank details for that amount so I chose the voucher. They said that they'll send the voucher in the mail that day Thursday last week. and it's already Tuesday and I'm still waiting. Maybe I should just consider my money gone.

You might still get the voucher. Are they sending by post or email? If your postal system is anything like the UK it could take a while!

@Snowdrop66, I hope so too. Yeah probably it will just take sometime as it was almost the weekend.

It is so easy for people to overcharge in shops. My local village shop is still managing to overcharge a lot of times. The only safe way is to check the bill immediately. I'm glad you got your money back.

@Jackalyn unfortunately I'm still waiting for the voucher. I usually check my account right away, but forgot to do it on that night. I'm kind of annoyed with myself too.

You should go back there and get the charge off your card or tell the bank not to pay it.

I know I usually carry some cash with me for small purchases but we already used the cash earlier that night at the school's sausage sizzle. I usually check my banking app right after I pay, but I forgot to check that time.
