I finished reading The Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. It is the first book in a series. I had recommended this book to Overdrive thinking it sounded good and I was right. Big Warning: there is a little bit of violence. In this book, a girl named Enne decides to go to a dangerous city in search of her adopted mother who is missing. That city is called New Reynes and nicknamed the City of Sin. It's a combination of our Las Vegas and Los Angles. The city is mostly ran by gangs. Enne had received a letter from her adopted mother saying to find a guy named Levi and he would help her. She didn't know that Levi is a street lord and a con man. She is very out of place in New Reynes. She does find Levi and she discovers that her adopted mother had a secret dangerous life. Levi agrees to help her find her adopted mother in order to get some money from her. He also gets her job at the casino he works at. Enne also finds out that her adopted mother lied to her about her biological mother and father. She does find out what happened to her mother and finds out that Levi is in danger. Enne saves him in doing so puts them both in the crosshairs of some dangerous people. I loved this book. I have recommended the second book to Overdrive. I don't know when they will buy it. I might buy the second one if they don't by Black Friday (Nov. 29th). Now I'm reading The Arm of the Starfish by Madeleine L'Engle. It is the first book of the Polly O'Keffe book series.
