Guinea pigs

I love my guinea boys, they all have such unique characters and remind me of children the way they hate sharing and squabble over food.
Many people are not fond of them but some are so tame that their owners let them wander about the house. I wouldn't allow that because they are little poop machines but they can be very affectionate towards humans.
Have you ever owned guinea pigs?

We do't have any guinea pigs but know many really enjoy them as pets. They are so innocent.

They are. They don't have a long life span, usually about 5-7 years but they can bring a lot of pleasure to their owners.

@Ladanger They like company so breeders always advise people to have at least 2. I have three, all from the same parents.

I had hamsters at one time but they could bite. Guinea pigs rarely bite their owners, they are very affectionate.

I have one fuzzy haired, one short hair and one long hair. The fuzzy and longhaired have to be trimmed.

@sprite1950 you know, there was a time that i wanted to eat a guinea pig as it was also a delicacy but then when i saw a cute long-haired guinea pig, i felt so piteous for that cute baby.

They can be very affectionate. When I walk by they climb up the bars of their cage to greet me.

Cute pet. But I can't have it due to lack of space to care for it.

Yes they do need a hutch or cage big enough to run around in.

I never owned one, but took care of a friends' for six months while they were in the States. It was so affectionate. Every time I walked it the door it would trill greetings at me.

They sound like other animals who do not like to share either. I have never had one so cannot say whether or not if I like them or not.
