Calling

How does one know if a duty or occupation is a calling? Some in the religious vocations have claimed that their duty is a calling. In the medical occupations, nurses and doctors can not be faulted for claiming that what they do is also a form of "calling". If all can claim that whatever they do is a type of calling, it may mean that there's no such thing as a "calling", or is there? Perhaps to be "called" means to embrace a job wholeheartedly after having avoided it countless times, in one form or another. Ambition should not be confused with a Calling.

I think a "calling", in terms of theological vocations is really just a symptom of temporal lobe epilepsy. HTH
