Day 13
Promise 13
Genesis 15:7 And he said unto him, “I am the LORD who brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
8 And he said, “Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?”
9 And he said unto him, “Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, a horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, “Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.”
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp passed between those pieces.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
What did you do when someone told you something you thought was too good to be true? Did you ask for proof?
Abram asked God for proof that his seed would inherit the land, and God gave it to him.
Here is not only the promise God would give Abram and his seed the Promised Land but a prophecy about what was to come regarding Abram’s seed.
Note here that the prophecy would see fulfillment four generations from that moment or four hundred years from when God gave this promise to Abram to the time when Israel would leave Egypt and bondage and enter the land God promised him and his seed forever. God also gave Abram the coordinates of the land they would inhabit.
God also promised great judgment on the nation who would afflict Abram’s seed. God kept His promise when He brought Israel out of bondage and Moses led them to the Promised Land.
God confirmed His promise by causing a great sleep to come on Abram after he set up the sacrifice He commanded and then setting the sacrifice on fire.
God’s promises are yea and amen. Sometimes He gives a time when they will be fulfilled, and other promises have no specific date for when they will happen, but they will happen.
Abram never questioned God again about his heir, his seed, or the inheritance God promised him.
Sometimes words aren’t enough to satisfy us that something will happen, we need further proof. When we see the proof, we have no cause to question that what was said, will happen.
Let’s pray: Father, help me accept the promises You give me. Thank you, that You do not become angry when I ask for further proof that what You promised You will do. Give me faith to believe Your promises. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Amen! I have seen so much proof in my own life of God's amazing love. God has given us so much, we just have to open our spiritual eyes to it all. =)
