French couple may get jail time for stealing sand

They stole 90 pounds (40 kg) of sand. I'm not exactly sure what they were planning to do with it.
I guess stealing sand in Sardinia goes against the grain. I think it's rather silly-con.

I saw the headlines on MSN and Bing. It made curious why someone would steal sand in Sardinia France.

It reminds me of a joke I heard a million years ago...
A man has his first day on the job as a border guard. Every day at noon a man comes to the border with a wheelbarrow full of sand and every day the border guard digs through the sand looking for contraband.
This goes on every day for years. It's finally the guard's last day. Sure enough the man shows up at noon. The guard doesn't check the sand. He just tells the man that he knows he's been smuggling something across the border but he can't figure out what it is. He tells the man that he has beaten him fair and square and begs him to tell him what he is smuggling. The smuggler answers "Wheelbarrows."
