I decided to make home made "sardines" in tomato sauce and its a success

I won't be sharing the recipe because you can easily find it on Youtube. I didn't really use sardine fish because what I have available is hard tail mackerel. I cooked it in the slow cooker and the result is just like the canned version where the bones of the fish will melt in your mouth. I placed them in sterilized mason jars to keep them preserved. I can make canned fish now!!! I will try to learn doing canned tuna next. What makes my homemade canned sardines different aside from not using sardine fish is I added mushrooms, carrots and peas. The carrots melted though, I am planning to eat it with toast or rice. Heck I might even use it for pasta. How do you like your canned sardines?

Mine dont have the fishy smell thanks to oregano (yes the cough cure) Lemongrass stalk, lemon juice, ginger juice and I used Vodka instead of water.

I like canned sardines. Usually I just serve it as a dish. Or I will add it to the pasta and it will taste well.

That would be great. I also like to eat mackerel sardines and also like to add many onions, ginger, tomatoes, and chili sauce.

Most sardines here are Spanish sardines and I want tomatoes instead of olive oil.

@cacay1 In your country tomatoes are cheaper than olives so thats why the tomato one is cheaper. Here the tomato variety is hard to find.

@CaptAlbertWhisker You made your own version. That is great. You really are ambitious. I used to buy sardines in a can a long time ago but stopped eating them so do not buy them anymore. I also like them with tomato sauce.
