Take off your mask

About a month ago I entered a giveaway (I'm always entering giveaways) for one of those weighted blankets. They are supposed to help with anxiety. Well, the company that makes these blankets (NEUU) sends me emails every day with some words of wisdom to help with mental health. Here are today's words of wisdom: How would you feel if you took off your mask and faced the world as you, the real you. You’d be faced with a choice - is the person you are behind the mask the person you truly are proud to be? With self love and gratitude, embrace the part of you that you haven’t shown to the world. Be proud of it. You were made perfectly the way you are. Because you are amazing. So, what are you waiting for? Take off that mask and let the real you shine through! ~~~~~ Apparently there is a whole blog attached to these nuggets of wisdom. But this was taken out of my email. I get a lot of emails and see quotes and like to share them when I think they will help others. I hope this helps you. Take off your mask and just be your authentic self.

Many people never take their masks off. I understand this. I have mine off now. But was behind one after losing my son. I had to in order to survive. But things are better now.

I have to agree @CarolDM. There are times during my grief I should have kept a mask on but I've always been one to be who I am and not be ashamed (even though I should have).

I feel that I have my own time to accept certain words of wisdom. Sometimes, as wise as they are, they will not reach me.

But... but... but what happens if you're the Invisible Woman?

All the better. Then you wouldn't have to hide behind a mask!

Good advice. There are times when we all hide behind a mask.

Then there are times when we should because sometimes our true selves are unacceptable. I've shown my true colours at times that I shouldn't have. But on the other hand, I have learned and grown from them and that's not me anymore. So better to show the bad you so you can become a better you.

I don't think I've ever hidden behind a mask. Sometimes showing my true colours was not the best in the moment, but in the long run I learned from that behaviour and became a better person. At least I'd like to think so.

I wanna look young and work hard to attain it without wearing a mask.
