Some of MYLOT's users may be too delicate to see this movie, but, if you're not. Boogie Nights is a film masterpiece. It's topic covers a culture that many in the seventies and eighties found commonplace. But so many today are so easily threatened it's not a movie for everybody. When this movie was in theaters, I didn't go because I thought it was about the Disco lifestyle I abhorred during the films period in history. I saw it the first time on HBO, my mouth was open in awe through every scene as it unfolded. Boogie Nights is about the golden age of XXX porn, and it's requisite transition to video. It tells the story through the eyes of fictional porn star Dirk Diglar, portrayed masterfully by Mark Wahlberg. his cohorts played by John C. Riley, Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore, William H. Macy, Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Don Cheadle, Heather Graham, and many more great actors. Boogie Nights was nominated for three Oscars, and won many other awards. It has an epic soundtrack that will bring any participants to the late seventies and early eighties party scene back in time. It triggered so many memories, good and bad, for myself. Allow for some time if you choose to view, or, rescreen this movie, as it is very long, well over two hours, but interesting every minute. If you're one of the many who can no longer handle risque situations, or alternative life concepts, don't watch this movie. If you can handle things that are different, and wish to relive the good and bad experiences of the period. I hope you enjoy this movie half as much as I.

Boogie Nights was excellent film. Burt Reynolds was robbed of the Oscar he was nominated for. Don't get me started on Heather Graham!
