Day 25 Promise 27 Genesis 28:10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. 11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, “I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou lie, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou go, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.” Many times, in life, circumstances seem to be against you. You map out your life, plan on how fast you will advance in the career of your choice, where you will live, you plan every detail. Then something happens and your career changes, things don’t go according to plan and you need to make adjustments. Jacob needed to make an adjustment to his life. He stole the blessing from his brother, Esau. Esau’s anger at losing the blessing and his birthright caused him to hate Jacob. He intended to kill Jacob at his first opportunity. To save her son, Rebekah spoke to Isaac about sending Jacob to her brother to get a wife from his family. Isaac sent Jacob to Padanaram and Laban, Rebekah’s brother to get a wife. God met Jacob on his journey. God reiterated His oath to Abraham and Isaac and told Jacob his seed would spread over the whole land, and He would be with him until He fulfilled His promise to Abraham and Isaac. God’s promise would see fulfillment in Jacob. God’s promises are always yes and amen. God told Abraham his seed would inherit the land. He didn’t say, He would be with him until He fulfilled the promise. He told Abraham he would die long before God kept His promise. He told Isaac the same thing. His seed would inherit the land. Only in Jacob did God tell him, He would be with Jacob until He fulfilled the promise. What has God promised you? Are you part of the promise or the fulfillment of the promise? Let’s pray: Father, let Your promises to me see their fulfillment in my lifetime. However, Lord, if I am the beginning of the promise, let me trust You that You for the fulfillment. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 28 August 2019 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
