Well, F-Bomb. No, seriously. Today's Be One of Us, a 50-song countdown of 50 songs with "of" in the title, was one strictly for me. You didn't pay for this one. But it's frustrating, because I had a song, then a different song, neither of which I could use, lined up. I did manage to stick with the same band, at least! We are at #35: "Princess of the Queens (The Lost Generation)" by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Humorously, tongue-in-cheek-offensive Chicago industrial dance band My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, led by vocalist Groovie Mann and guitarist/programmer Buzz McCoy, drew the ire of the PMRC and other uptight music watchdog organizations right off the bat, and had I used either song I had originally wanted, I would have drawn the ire of MyLot and more than likely been kicked out of here about 30 seconds after I published this discussion. I wanted, you see, to use their boffo, aggressive dance tune, "Rivers of Blood, Years of Darkness." However, that particular song, as groovy as it is, is full of F-Bomb-laden soundbites. So, Plan B was to use their classic "The Days of Swine and Roses," with it's catchy "Christian Zombie Vampire" chorus, for which I have a great joke ("Well, if there actually WERE such a thing as Zombie Vampires, the law of averages would suggest that at least a percentage of them would be Christian, wouldn't it?" I crack myself up!) But that song, it turns out, also contains a few F-Bomb soundbites. Plan C. On their 1991 album, Sexplosion!, the group moved into what is known as their sleazy disco sound, with a bit of lounge groove thrown in for good measure. "Princess of the Queens (The Lost Generation)" is totally sleazy, drag queen disco, with vocals courtesy of Chicago house-music vocalist Shawn Christopher (she has performed with notables such as Chaka Khan, Lil Louis and the World, and Jimmy Somerville.) It's quite fun. Perhaps not the wholesome, family fun that you have come to expect from me, but fun nonetheless. And there are no F-Bombs. (Info verified by Wikipedia)
