Canadian YouTuber (and soon-to-be North American late night talk show host) gives advise on how to be successful in a way only Lilly Singh (aka @!!superwoman!!) can. Her humour and voice are clear but definitive in giving advise in brief, colourful chapters. How to climb the ladder and knowing there is always going to be another ladder, to always be kind, to stick to your values and most importantly, you have to work for what you want. She explains how she made a cameo on Jimmy Fallon reading mean tweets to YouTubers, turn into a full-on guest appearance on his show. She took a page from Jimmy's book and was friendly and kind to everyone she met shaking hands and introducing herself - from directors, to make-up artists, to P.A.'s. Her friendliness shining through, one of those directors called her back in.
At first when I was reading this book I found myself becoming a little depressed with nothing to strive for, but as I read on my motivation blossomed - not just to get to work on what I want to be successful at, but to be a friendly, kind person. You have nothing to lose in being kind to people.
A definite must read. I think teenagers will learn a lot from this. Best to learn it before you're in it or just starting. Honestly, the things that should be taught in school.

@patgalca One of my best friends bought me her book but I haven't read it yet. I adore Lilly so much! Not only is she smart and funny but she is a genuine person. She is real! Huge fan of hers!

I bought it a while back and finally picked it off my huge TBR shelf. There are questions at the end of almost every chapter for one to reflect over. I have put sticky note tabs. Now that I finished the book I am going to go back and journal them.

@VivaLaDani13 I can't believe I went back and journalled every single set of questions in one sitting. There are 50 very short chapters in the book but not all of them have questions at the end. It's a kind of self-reflection. I found it very helpful.

I had just about given up on finishing my novel. And there are still times when I'm not sure that's what I really want to do. My dream was to be a parent and I have done that. Now I'm hoping to be a grandparent. But I have never had a CAREER or AMBITION that I really wanted to strive for. My health is also an issue.

Sounds like a great book and one I should buy because I may want to make and take notes.

We can all learn something from this book, no matter the age. It really hit me when she described how Jimmy Fallon shook hands with everyone introducing himself, smiling, and when she did that it made her stand out. Even if you're not trying to GET somewhere, it's still good to make a lasting positive impact.

@Writingghost Isn't everyone trying to get "somewhere"?

@patgalca That is probably true, although, I think Jimmy Fallon has always been trying to "get" somewhere. I ordered the book.
