Could anybody tell me how to name an English Name?

You know, English is not my mother language that's why I don't have an English name. Since I started to learn English, I've been tried to name a good name to myself, but that's too difficult to me because I know little about English culture although I try to learn it. Students whose native language is not English usually choose some simple and memorable names, such as Jack, Sarah, Leo etc. These names are so good but too easy to name. In my English Learning Center, I've been met three people calling Echo. It's not a big deal to sharing a name but I think it's a little inconvenient if there are so many people have the same name with you in your work place. I tried to name myself, but I worried that this name will be very strange. So I really need some advice. BTW, I'm a girl.

@Faynlain Why don't you just keep your name that you were born with?

@Faynlain I understand and also for Israelis as well. My English name before I Hebrewized it was hard for them to pronounce but now it is fine because my first name is in Hebrew now. Maybe if you can learn to sound out your name people will be able to say it.

The pronunciation of Chinese names is difficult for westerners.

It would help to find a name for you if you mentioned if you're female or male.

@Faynlain @myklj999 And why should anyone know that? I don't know Chinese - just like the majority of myLot members. Not mentioning this is either ignorance or arrogance in my book.

No offensive, sometimes I doult that there is a Name Book in the UK and everyone choose a name from the book. Can I create a name by myself? I often consider about that question.

I actually don't prefer my name to name in English but as you are concern you can translate your name and in case you don't like if the translated version try to get synonyms and articulate your Chinese name to English name

I picked the name Fay before and it has a similar pronunciation with my Chinese middle name, but I found so many people have the same name with me, so I want to change a new, special name. That's why I ask this question in Mylot. Maybe I should keep this name.

Unfortunatelly, it doesn't suit for me. Because the pronounciation of my Chinese name, my classmates used to call me "the little grey wolf" . You know, I can't name myself " Wolf" right?
