I Always Laugh When People Don't Believe Me. / myLot

LOL Not long ago I was sitting at a bus stop in front of my apartment building. A guy I didn't know came up and sat on the bench next to me. I had headphones on because i hate smalltalk, especially with random people I don't know. This guy decided he wanted to try anyway, so he asked me what I was listening to. I told him "Romanian folk music." He got all huffy and yelled at me saying I didn't have to be a sarcastic witch (turn the W sideways) and it was just an innocent question. Not missing a beat I turned off my headphones, and activated the bluetooth speaker in my bank. The Maria Tanase album I was listening to played loud and clear. Him: What the heck is that? Me: I already told you. Romanian folk music!!!! I'm not Romanian, I just tend to really enjoy music in various languages, and this particular album is one of my favourites. Remember, eccentric answers aren't always sarcastic. Has anything similar ever happened to you? How did you handle it?

Haha, that's funny! You showed him! I am one of those idiots that likes to make small talk. I would be that guy that sat next to you and tried to strike up a conversation with you! But I wouldn't have responded the way that guy did, I would have been like, "Really? Cool. Can I listen, I've never heard Romanian folk music before!" My daughter once said to me, "Dad, you know everybody! Every time we go somewhere you are always running into people you know and talking to them!" I told her, "I don't know those people," and she said, "But you talk to them like they're your best friend." And I said, "Honey, I treat everyone like they are my best friend."

Yup! It sure was. I’m a very literal person, but even the non-literal people think sarcasm has gone too far. Wish you could’ve seen the look on his face.
