Disturbing The Peace: About My Class Visit To A Cemetery Years Ago

Many years ago, I took a class trip to a grave yard, it was at the foot of a hill with a giant cross on the top of it, as I recall. We went there for a couple reasons, one was to do pencil rubbings of the headstones. Looking back, I kind of feel like maybe we (the class) were a disturbance to the place. I don't go to grave yards these days unless I have to. Do you think a "field trip" for school children to a cemetery is inappropriate?

I never thought of taking my students to a cemetery as a class trip. I am not sure I would.

I think it's a good experience for a group of school kids. They do need to learn about things like that. On our travels we've been to a couple of really interesting cemeteries.

I don't think it's a nice idea

Some of the children may have been a bit sensitive about visiting a graveyard, but I expect the teacher meant well.
