International Day of Democracy National Double Cheeseburger Day (This one is for Jeff!) 1616 - The first free public school in modern Europe is opened. 2008 - Lehman Brothers, (it was the 4th largest investment bank in the United States), files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the largest bankruptcy filing in U. S. history. 1907 - Fay Wray was born. She was a Canadian-American actress best known for her role as Ann Darrow in the 1933 film King Kong (see below). She was one of the first "scream queens". She died in 2004. 1946 - Tommy Lee Jones was born. He is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. Some of his movies: The Fugitive, the Men in Black series, No Country for Old Men, Batman Forever, Man of the House, Captain America: The First Avenger, Jason Bourne, The Executioner's Song, Coal Miner's Daughter and many more.
