I would benefit from this machine, and you would too.

The 1950's family dynamic benefited immensely from this invention. If mom forgot the sunscreen, it was no big deal. Just put a dime into the machine and grab the nozzle, aim it at the part of your body requiring the sunscreen and press down on the trigger. This sprayer was designed to be used at the beach, the pool or even the tennis court. A dime (ten cents) would give you 30 seconds of spraying time, so you had to be fast to get every part of exposed skin or else pay ten more pennies for another spraying session. I don't know that any of these are still around today, but they would definitely come in handy in today's busy world. I wanted to add the picture here but you'll just have to go to the link below to see it, I wasn't able to save it to my computer as it was blocked.

I wouldn't mind having that machine down at the lakeshore.

Would definitely come in handy. Having it right by the docking station for boats, or near the beachy area of the lake.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yep, I could see this machine really popular if it was around & with the updated payment options!

@infatuatedbby Yeah but it might be too expensive as well. I'd imagine it would be atleast 75 cents to use, but most likely around $1.50 for 30 seconds of spray.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yeah the price would be much more. But I am sure the machine will eventually get vandalized too.. that happens with machines :(

I doubt if anyone will think to make one like this again. I am not sure how well known / how many places had these machines back in the 50's. It might have been that none did. The photo is from an exhibition of machinery in 1949.

With all the skin cancers and warnings now, a machine like this at the lakes, beach etc would be a good money maker for those who forget their SPF.

I think nowadays there would be a machine for each brand of sunblock, just because of heavy competition.

@noni1959 That would be a good idea. I haven't seen a perfume one in a bathroom in a long time, but I think the last one I saw was in a mall.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Maybe someone could have a machine that does the most popular. Kind of like they used to do those perfume ones in bathrooms.

I am sure it would cost atleast 75 cents per dispense, but most likely even more than that.

@Michellekidwell Hmm, I'm not sure. If they use scrap materials, it would probably save money on the cost of building it. A newer model would probably be made of metal and glass.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I’m sure it would be expensive but I was thinking of the cost to build the machine as well!

I never knew such a thing existed. They are needed more today than they were back then as the ozone layer has depleted and the sun's rays stronger and more dangerous.

Good idea, it helps to keep the sunscreen at home. But, the best to do is to go to the beach at late hours, when the sun's radiation is small.
