Three year old special needs child Aedric Hughes is thankful that the bloodhounds who work with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office (SRCSO) answered an emergency call from the grandmother of the child on Sunday afternoon in Pace Florida that her grandson was missing after he opened a door and walked into the wooded area behind the home. The deputies went searching for Aedric for a period of two hours. They were not successful in finding him since he hid inside a brush which is the reason he could not be located. Then the deputies went with Plan B which is to use bloodhounds to assist them locate Aedric 30 minutes later in the wooded area. Deputy Robert Lenzo was the officer who carried Aedric back to his parents home safe and sound. Audra Hughes who is the mother of Aedric was at work at the time of the incident. She is very grateful that the police and the K9 units were able to locate her son safe and sound. My belief is that the grandmother was distracted when her grandson managed to open the door and walk into the wooded area out of being a curious child who did not know that he needed someone to watch him. At least this story has a happy ending.

I know what you mean since losing a child at such a young age is scary.

@rakski I know if I were in the shoes of the mom, I would be scared as well that a child was lost,

A happy ending indeed but grandma needs to be more watchful.

It only takes a second for a child to wander off. I'm glad he was found safe and sound and returned home to loving arms.
