Day 46 Promise 51 Exodus 33:18 And he said, “I beseech thee, show me thy glory.” 19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” 20 And he said, “Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.” People want to know what God looks like. Many pictures and sculptures have been made depicting what God looks like in the artist’s eye. Yet, no one truly knows what God looks like. Wrapped up in Moses’ request to see God’s glory is another of God’s promises to His people. He told Moses He would be gracious to whom He would, and He would show mercy to whom He would. On whom does God show grace and mercy? You know Noah found grace in God’s sight. So, did Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Now we know Moses found grace in God’s sight. God’s mercy saved Noah from God’s judgment when He brought the flood on the earth. God showed Abraham mercy by bringing Lot and his family out of Sodom and Gomorrah when He destroyed it. He showed mercy on Isaac when He delivered a ram to Abraham for the sacrifice instead of allowing Abraham to sacrifice His son. He showed mercy on Jacob by sending Joseph ahead of him into Egypt to save them from the famine. And He showed mercy to Israel by keeping His covenant with Abraham and bringing His people out of bondage. Those are instances of God’s grace and mercy, and there are many more. In every instance, those receiving God’s grace and mercy were obedient to Him. They communed with Him and knew His voice. As Christians, God showed you grace and mercy when you accepted Jesus, His Son, as Savior and Lord. When you spend time with Him in prayer and Bible study, He shows you grace and mercy. When you listen to His voice and do what He tells you, He is gracious and merciful to you. The key to God’s grace and mercy is spending time with Him, daily. You cannot know God’s will for you if you don’t spend time with Him. How has God shown you His grace and mercy? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your grace and mercy to me. Help me spend time with You each day so I can know Your heart and receive Your grace and mercy in time of need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Good morning. Not the best, but it will be good. I didn't make it to the pool this morning - darn arthritis. My right knee was super bad all night.
