When we had this commercial building was built eight years ago, we never put a roof on the side walk. But the tenants did when they started moving in.
The main reason for this was shelter from Sun heat and strong rain. But I've noticed in other areas local government people had begun removing these roofs because they said it's obstruction.
Were told they're going to do it this Sunday. I've warned the staff but some already knew about this.

Ok am not aware of the law about that. But I think you cannot put a roof over the sidewalk because that is public property already and only the government can do something on it. I think that is the reason the local government have a say on what to do with those roof over the sidewalks.

@Letranknight2015 Well of course they will have influence in that one. But if anyone will really apply the law he should not be excused in case where that law is applied to everyone violating it.

@rsa101 Maybe they should have been discouraged. Right now they're removing their own.

It is a government campaign nowadays; to give back to the public the sidewalks.

Hello @acelawrites the side walk is already there and no vendors, they're just removing the roofs which was so annoying in my opinion.

That is also done here in my hometown. And what's more annoying is that they also removed our waiting sheds... And in the nearby towns, they were about to remove the century old trees, which then turned out that they should not touch those sheds and trees... hmmmm a mistake? whoaaaa....
I saw this morning that they started to cut the big branches of the old trees... Whoa.. I am not sure if they were notified already about the memo...

Hello @brokenbee What the heck they were thinking about removing trees? That's just nuts. For me, parking for a very long time is illegal.

@Letranknight2015 yes, I think they misunderstood it. It is hard that we don't have waiting sheds, especially now that we're still having rains. But what can we do? Hmmmm
I felt sad when they were demolishing the old waiting shed that had been there ever since I was in my elementary days. It was a sturdy structure that they had a hard time pounding and breaking the concrete roof. I took a picture while they were doing it. A remembrance... Hmmmm

Hello @Janet357 Nope not these roofs, but we were hit by a drunk Van driver six years ago and he was called to fix it.

I think it sounds good having that to keep people dry as they are walking along the street or going into and out of shops. I guess as long as you didn't pay for it or build it then it's not a loss that it has to be taken down.

That is not fair to the tenants. Can something be done? They need protection from the outside,.
