Day 55 Promise 84 Numbers 24:15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: 16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the Most-High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: 17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. Many times, through life you meet someone who rubs you the wrong way and you want to see bad things happen to that person even though they did nothing to you to make you feel that way. Balak the son of Zippor sent for Balaam to curse Israel. However, Balaam could not do so, though Balak intreated him three times to do so, each time, Balaam blessed Israel. Numbers 23:8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? Or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied? Numbers 23:18 And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? 20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. 21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. Until this point, the children of Israel murmured and complained to Moses and Aaron and disobeyed God. Yet, God was their God and Father, and as a Father, He loved them and disciplined them. However, just like any parent who loves their children, when someone came against them, He defended them and would not allow any harm to come to them. Therefore, when Balak saw Israel camped on his doorstep, he sent for Balaam to come and curse them. Balaam could not do so because God had blessed Israel. He could not curse anyone God blessed. As Christians, you are blessed by God. Anyone who tries to come against you can’t because God blessed you. No matter how many times Satan sends someone against you, nothing will come of it. That doesn’t mean you won’t come under attack. Satan can’t send someone against you, but he can come against you with temptations to entice you away from God. Jesus told the Jews that His sheep knew His voice and no one could take them away from Him. John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. (KJV) If you do not succumb to Satan’s lies and temptations, no one can come against you to take you away from the Father. No matter how hard Balak tried, he could not come against Israel. Israel was safe in the Father’s hand. Are you safe in the Father’s hand? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for keeping me safe in Your hand so no evil can come near me. Help me stand against Satan when he comes at me with temptations to entice me from your hand. Keep me safe with Your Word in my mouth and in my heart to resist Satan so he must flee from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 27 September 2019 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
