I love the big athletics events but selling out to oil money in Qatar has been a disaster for the event. The stadium is empty, the atmosphere is terrible and the athletes put at risk from running marathons in the desert heat for this weeks World Championships. They started the women's marathon at midnight to avoid that heat but 28 girls dropping out, 40% of the field.
The Blue ribbon Mens 100m event didn't event draw a crowd last night, the controversial Christian Coleman winning in the sixth fastest time ever, 9:79. Twice drug cheat Justin Gatlin finished second at a ridiculous 9:89, at 37-years -old clearly risking another drugs ban to keep earning. These are not clean times.
Coleman missed three drugs whereabouts tests in a 12 month span, meaning a two year ban, but go away with on a technicality. He is sure to test positive one day soon. He looks another Tyson Gay in demeanor.
