Day 57
Promise 86
Deuteronomy 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God gives thee, forever.
When you obey the rules of your home set down by your parents and then obey the laws of the country you live in, your life is free from bondage and strife. You live in harmony with those around you.
Moses told the people of Israel what God required of them, and who God was, and if they obeyed Him, they would have a long life in the earth.
Deuteronomy 5:16 Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.
As Christians, this promise is for you when you obey God.
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honor thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth.
God’s promise when you obey your parents, when you obey Him, is a long life.
Everyone wants to live a long life, and we look for answers when someone lives over 100 years, hoping to know their magic formula for living a long life.
There is no magic formula. God said if you obey Him, He will give you a long life. He can do that because He alone is God and beside Him is no one else.
Today people worship at many temples, not only the false gods of the many nations of the earth, but gods of their own making. They worship money, doing everything they can to earn more so they can have more. They worship their leisure time, gathering to themselves every toy imaginable for their pleasure. They worship people, idolizing celebrities and sports heroes.
When people realize there is only one God worthy of worship, and obey Him, He will give them the desires of their heart and prolong their lives.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV)
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
Trust God and He will prosper you, give you the desires of your heart, and long life.
Let’s pray: Father, my desire is to worship You alone. Help me put You first in my life, being obedient to Your Word, so my life will be long and fruitful on the earth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
