"Aliens" is a science-fiction action horror movie that was released in 1986. It is the sequel to the 1979 movie, "Alien". CAST Sigourney Weaver - Ellen Ripley Michael Biehn - Corporal Dwayne Hicks Paul Reiser - Carter J. Burke Lance Henricksen - Bishop Carrie Henn - Rebecca "Newt" Jorden Bill Paxton - Private Hudson In the first scene a spacecraft drifts slowly through space. Inside is Ellen Ripley, who has been in stasis with her cat, Jones, in a shuttle for 57 years. She is the only survivor of the mining ship Nostromo which she blew up after a hostile alien lifeform was responsible for killing her entire crew. An alert goes off. The shuttle is intercepted by a salvage vessel. The crew opens the door with a welding torch. Inside they find Ripley and Jones still alive. Ripley is at Gateway Station, a space facility orbiting Earth, in a hospital. Carter Burke visits her. He is a representative of Weyland-Yutani, Ripley's employer. Ripley is told that she has been in hypersleep for 57 years; and she is extremely distressed to hear this. She asks about her daughter; and Burke shows her a picture of an old woman. She learns that she died of cancer. The Company has started a formal investigation as to why the Nostromo was destroyed. Ripley tries to convince them how dangerous the Alien was. The board treats her as if she's unstable. They don't press criminal charges; but they take away her flight license and submit her to psychiatric evaluation. No one will go to the planetoid to confirm her story. Ripley is shocked to find out that LV-426, what the planetoid is now called, has been inhabited for 30 years and that they are making a breathable atmosphere. Two Company employees receive orders to investigate a certain unsurveyed part of the planetoid LV-426. The higher-ranking surveyor along with his wife, son Timmy and daughter Rebecca discover the same derelict ship that Ripley's crew found. They go in to investigate. A long while later the wife comes out and calls for help on the radio. If you want to know what happens next, you will have to watch the movie. This is by far one of the most intense, action-packed movies that I have ever seen. The movie was nominated for 7 Academy Awards and won 2; and it won 8 Saturn Awards. Empire Magazine voted "Aliens" the "Greatest Film Sequel of All Time". It's very unusual for a sequel to be as good as the original. I give this one my recommendation without hesitation. This movie is rated R. Thank you for stopping by; and I know that you will enjoy "Aliens". Photo Credit: Aliens
