One man's trash is another man's cash

It amazes my how do this was viewed as bad and disgusting by many, has now been turned into a way of making a living. I'm talking about what we call dumpster diving. I years and years ago, my husband's brother-in-law would dumpster dive, I'm talking about getting all the way inside the dumpster, everyone talked crap about him doing that. Well that other day I was on YouTube and seen a video were a woman does this for a living, she takes all the stuff she finds and ether places it online or has a yard sale. I watched the one were she sold the stuff in a yard sale and she made over $300.00. I don't know how long it took her to get the things she sold but, not bad for selling other peoples junk! In the county that I live in, they have done away with most of the dumpster, now you have to go to the recycling center. But even when we did have a lot of dumpsters around, a person could be fined if they caught them taking things out of the dumpster. Now I will have to say, I have went to the dumpster and seen something that has been left outside it for anyone that wants it and took it home, I got a small table that way one time. When I seen this woman getting clothes and other things, some she would see what it was and take the whole bag, all I could think is, hope she's real careful and checks everything before bringing it into her house, if not she is running the risk of getting a bad case of either bed bugs or roaches because of it. What do ya'll think about this

I found a tent in one. It was being tossed out by a local department store. I gave it to the Salvation Army. Sometimes I found magazines and books. I don't dumpster dive now but back then I was young and had no fear. I found a large oil painting of a villa in perfect condition along the side of the road, being thrown away by the home owners. I figured, one man's trash is very much another man's treasure.

When I moved out of the house for the very first time we got a dumpster dive chair. I told my friends "This chair looks so familiar." We found it outside of someone's house only a few doors down from us. Well one of our other friends came over and said "Hey! This is our old living room chair!" Her parents got a kick out of knowing it ended up going around the neighborhood. That same friend has gotten shoes out of the dumpster before. I'm not against dumpster diving provided the items can be cleaned well. Hey if someone can make money out of it more power to them. Yeah those dumpsters have always had the "you can be fined" warnings on them. You don't see as many dumpster divers now because most people sell their stuff online.

Yea, I might would pick something off the top if I can use it and there's nothing wrong with it. Or like I said, if it's left beside the dumpster for you to take. That is funny about the chair,

@sweetashoney Yeah I mean, I won't be going into the dumpster themselves either as bags break and you dont' know what might be in those bags...
