Wife hands off on her hubby's ATM Card

A wife may be in hot water if she misuses her hubby's ATM.
One of the Philippine lawmakers has filed a bill penalizing or even criminalizing an impulsive housewife who takes control of the ATM card of her husband and withdraws money to satisfy her whims and caprices.
Worse would be the fine for her if there's nothing left on the bank balance.
What's your reaction on this bill? Wife? Husband?

@Nakitakona since they are talking about using atm card's of husband -- I think it should be generalized as spouses.. much appropriate. I am a full time wife but I amenable with this. I knew a lot of wife who are bread winners

I agree with you. There are many women who are the breawiiner in the family and who are the ones who pays the bills and deals with the finances.

A husband and wife should have an agreement between the two of them about how much they can spend from the card, I don't think there should be such a law,

That's what we're thinking of too. We don't that lawmaker has thought that in mind and filed it. Do you think it will pass in the Congress?

@RasmaSandra You can't say that. It's the number that counts.

I think the lawmakers has some issues with her wife that inspired him to write a law like that.
But kidding aside I think it is a personal matter between the husband and wife and we don't need that kind of a law to be implemented anymore. If the husband doesn't want her wife then let her know her limits and if that is not workable then maybe he can control it by giving her limitations too. I just to do not see the importance of that law at all.

@Nakitakona well I think it is they are intrinsic in a marriage that one should support each other and not abuse each other. We don’t need a law on that anymore. When you entered into marriage contract to live and support each other. With that statement you can explicitly deduce that as husband and wife they should respect and not abused one another. The proposed law just magnifies the existing law on marriage.

I think it's not personal. It's for everybody just like the divorce bill which these lawmakers are working into.

@rsa101 your point speaks the sanctity of marriage and there should be a respect between the husband and the wife to bring out harmony not schism. The proposed bill breaks it.

To take money out of an ATM machine, you have to have a password. It is up to to the husband or the wife to give the other their password.

@Nakitakona I´d say that a wife in control of her husband´s ATM card against his will means that the poor man has no will. No law will help him

That's self-explanatory. The wife couldn't make a withdrawal without knowing the password. When it says takes control of ATM card the wife knows everything of it.

Sensible but I also think it could cause quite a few arguments.

Yes it's too delicate but if it will be passed and become a law it would be imposed.

@Nakitakona I think it would be better if the husband gave the wife money every month. I mean, personally I believe a woman should have her own bank account but I know that's not always the case. The man should subtract the monthly bills from his income and give the wife money for groceries, for the children's needs and a little for her own wants.

That's the obvious reason. I don't know if the proposed bill will get support from the House of Representatives.
