Sometimes I just can't help but be blatantly obvious. As I present today's song on my countdown of songs with "bed" in the title I feel this is one of those times. Everybody (well, John) saw this one coming. And here it is! #9: Let's Go to Bed - The Cure Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Cure (man, it sounds good to say that!) are more popular with the alternative, new wave, and college listeners in the US. That doesn't diminish their worldwide popularity at all. In fact, this sort of moved them out of the "goth" world into more synth-rock. There's a funny quote from Cure frontman Robert Smith on Picky Wedia about this song, saying how the record company told him, "You can’t be serious. Your fans are gonna hate it.” Maybe. I'm not one of those early-era REM fans who thought they "sold out" because they got popular. There was still plenty enough misery to go around ("In Between Days"). This is one of the big steps The Cure took on their way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Man, it sounds good to say that!)
