Finally settling on the ranch and loving it and update on me

On August 25h I was ordained as an Apostle. I went from the ordination to my Dad's bedside and several traumatic days followed where Dad was clearly dying but hung on unable to even drink water. He passed away on August 28th. I then had to cope with a house move and am finally settled here on the ranch. Being executor for my Dad's will has meant lots of my time was taken up for the last month or so helping mum sort her finances. Take a tip from me and never agree to be one! Of course, I have also had to help arrange a funeral, support mum and the rest of the family and look after my grandson as well at times as my daughter has been sick. It has been a rolller coaster of a time. However, God is good. Before the funeral my daughter's boss kindly lent us a bungalow by the sea and my sister came from New Zealand. Mum, Sue and I were able to have a break which stopped mum stressing about the funeral. We discovered that with the aid of a "Sholley" - a kind of square shopping bag on wheels, mum can walk a long way. She thought that was impossible for years - looking after my dad really meant she had no life at all and on that holiday we saw what is a new person emerging and we even did some painting. (Yes, mum is also an artist like my son and sister!) My previous senior Pastor came and did the funeral which was just as I wanted. He was the only Pastor who knew Dad so mum thought him the best choice and all went well. We got all the funeral food into the Sholley because this amazing square bag on wheels is better the more you put into it and all the family came and contributed. Then I had to stay and sort the will and be with Mum. In all this, my daughter was sick and I have had grandson Noah a fair bit. However, finally, I am unpacked, things arranged to look like a home and finally I am in the chalet telling all family I need at least three weeks here to settle. I wake up to the woods and birds singing. There is a horse allowed to roam round so he keeps the grass down. I found him outside the chalet one morning. My neighbours- all of them are the nicest of people and we all seem to help each other out. Yesterday, a friend and I took a boat out on the lake. We rowed down a stream that really needed clearing and had the most fun. Today. I am finally writing again and using Mylot to ease myself back in. But earlier my landlady took me into town as I needed cat food. We are far from any proper shop so we have to think ahead about what is needed. Best of all is that the Christian fellowship is on tap. Everyone had their independent lives but we will have communion together Sunday and most of my Christian friends know and want to come out here to visit. I have not gone down the water slide yet or swimming in the lake, but you never know. Noah was very happy to be able to bounce on a huge trampoline and climb trees and the woods I walk in are unspoilt and beautiful..... I guess it might be cold in winter, but so far so good.

@jackalyn I’m exhausted reading all that busyness! Sorry to hear about your father. Your new living arrangements sound wonderful, totally idyllic and just what I aspire to when I retire in a few years.

It was very exhausting. The last hurdle is Universal Credit which I would like to avoid, but needs must. Only a year to officially being old enough to retire having been done out of time by our not so wonderful governments.......

It sounds like an ideal home. I can feel the blessings coming your way living there. I'm so sorry about your dad. My prayers are with your mum.
