Don't cut the cities grass

This happened back in 2009. A man by the name of John Hamilton was arrested for refusing to stop cutting the grass of a nearby park. Apparently it had grown up to 12 inches and he decided to cut it, he wanted to save the city money.
This happened in Sandusky, Ohio. He was charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct. City workers had arrived to cut the grass, showing Mr. Hamilton a list of properties where they intended to cut the grass that day. Mr. Hamilton told them to "Go ahead to another property."
The workers called the police instead. The police had tried to get him to desist twice before ultimately arresting him.
Do you think he should have been arrested?
I honestly think while he was doing something out of the goodness of his heart, he should have stopped as soon as the city workers came around. He should have definitely stopped as soon as the police showed up.

It most certainly would have, I'm sure.
I assumed they got paid hourly, so the man was trampling on their paycheck.

@WorDazza True. It makes me wonder why they bothered calling the police to all. I've been to Sandusky once, but I'm not sure which park they were talking about. Sandusky is a smaller town that borders Lake Erie.

I am sure that there was some legal reason as to why he had to stop. It could have been a safety issue, it could have been that the city workers would not have been paid if they couldn't prove they had mowed it. There are probably several good reasons why he should have stopped. No, he shouldn't have been arrested but he also wasn't stopping when he should have either.

He shouldn't have been arrested, he should have been fined for not stopping when the police showed up.

I agree, but I think arresting him was just the easiest way to get him to desist.

I do not think he should have been arrested but should have been talked to.

They tried to talk to him. They had to arrest him because he was refusing to stop.

@Hannihar Yes, he should have stopped but I guess he had to learn the hard way.

That is too bad that it had to come to him being arrested to stop him.

Is this one of those weird things about union workers? If someone does their job for them, then they are deprived of the right to work???
The man should have followed the order of the police man. His arrest is because he failed to do so. But why the city workers complained I do not understand. Most of the time they are happy to take a break.

I don't actually know the full circumstances of it either. It might have been a union thing, but I think the guy was just trying to be a Good Samaritan.

@cperry2 It's a pity he got arrested, but I guess it's a learning experience for him.
