Lately, a young gymnast from the country named Carlos Edriel Yulo earned the top spot of the men's floor exercise event and won gold medal in the recently concluded World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Stuttgart, Germany. He is also the first Filipino gymnast to win for the said competition.By winning, he secured a qualification to compete in 2020 Tokyo Summer Games. I hope he will shine there considering the contenders from gymnastics powerhouse. For most of you, this may not be a big deal but for a country that has never won an Olympic Gold medal, winning is always a dream. The Philippines first participated in the 1924 Paris Olympics games. For the longest time, winning a gold medal is quite elusive but we hope that someday, one of the athletes could finally bring home.

What an honor for him and your country! I hope he does well in the Olympics. If not, it’s still an honor to make it that far.

@ZedSmart My granddaughter would love to make it that far with her figure skating. However, the competition is fierce!

I think that is a first from us in our country. I salute him for being able to get the gold medal for our country. But I think he was given the privilege to be trained abroad that is why his skills were really honed well by his trainer.

@ZedSmart I guess one factor for him to really get the gold for that. I think that Japanese too saw potential from him that is why he was willing to train him further.

@rsa101 I hope that he will perform better in the Olympiad. Who knows, he will get the first gold for the country after so long years of participating.

The floor is I think his expertise and strength but I think he was ranked 10th in all events but that's still good considering those great performers from other nations.

Had it been reported there Ms. T. The event was held in Germany but of course the news is hotter for us because we're also jubilant over his triumph even if we do not know him personally.

I think that we have plenty of potential athletes. If only given proper training, they will probably excel.
