& And is different

Atleast in show biz. The next time you watch a movie pay attention to the credits and look for the difference. If there is a & (Ampersand) symbol than that means the writers of the script collaborated (worked together at the same time.) If the word and is written out that means that they worked on the script at different times and not together. The and may further indicate that the two writers did not even consult each other at all. I've never even thought about the difference, have you?

Neither did I. I would not have any thought about the significance either.

@1creekgirl Ya know, I do not want to say that I strictly don't watch or read the credits, but it's very rare that I do.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I do like to read the credits, though. I've learned all sorts of interesting things.

I had a stint with the movie industry but I didn't know that convention about the ampersand and the And.

I had no idea either. I wonder if it's just for US production or if it's for Bollywood, Korean etc?

@ScribbledAdNauseum maybe it is the US Hollywood because they have their own standards.

Well there you go. I never even considered there might be a difference. I just thought the credit writers were being lazy when they used '&'.

I usually zone out during credits and only sit through them when I expect to see an end scene.

@WorDazza I still haven't watched Stranger Things. I got rid of netflix about two weeks before the new season was to air. I will be petsitting soon and so I can watch it when I am at a friend's house.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I used to do that until I skipped the end credits on the last episode of Stranger Things. It was a few days later I read about the scene part way through the credits and I had to go back and watch it.

I don't really pay attention to the credits. This is done with US films, I wonder if it's done with Bollywood, Korean etc?

I don't pay that much attention to the end credits. I'll sit through them at the theater just in case there is an end scene.

I never would have guessed that. That is an interesting piece of information. Thanks!

Yes it's definitely not something I would have even noticed when scrolling through the credits. The end credits get swankier with every movie anyway, I wouldn't have realized what it implied.
