My mother in law recommended the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day around the time of the Fifty Shades of Grey craze. At first she didn't think I would like them because I was heavy into the paranormal books back then, needless to say my taste became even more eclectic than it already was lol. I had read others by her as well because once I find an author I like, then I have to explore their other works. Sylvia Day is a very talented author and I do like her books but my favorite will always be Crossfire...that is, until her newest release Butterfly in Frost was released. Butterfly in Frost is a stand alone novel, her first since concluding the Crossfire series. I expected to like this novel but I did not expect to fall in love with it. Dr. Teagan Ransom lives in Pungent Sound. I'm not entirely sure where it is state-wise but it's by the water and the way Sylvia Day describes Teagan's view from her house is amazing. Teagan is not a normal woman. She is crippled by anxiety and depression for reasons that Sylvia hints at but doesn't flat out tell you. Garrett Frost just moved into the neighborhood. Tall, dark and broody, the man comes off as an a** when he first meets Teagan. Then for unknown reasons, he starts to warm up to her. He tries to integrate himself into her life. See, both Garrett and Teagan have past traumas that they're still trying to move past. Garrett wants to try to do that together. Teagan on the other hand, she's not sure how to not travel the road alone. Alone is what she does best even though she wishes for normal. Who declares what's normal though? Who decides when grieving time is over? The book is about two damaged souls trying to find their way back into the light. There is a twist at the end though, that I didn't see coming and it sent me reeling. The book made me feel everything that Teagan was feeling and it melted my heart. Once I read the end though, I cried. I remember telling a few friends about the twist M. Leighton wrote in the end of her book, The Way We Burn. It was so out of the blue that it sent the reader reeling but in a good way. In a way that made the ending satisfying. Butterfly in Frost is an amazing story and the ending is a twist but a satisfying one that will make you happy with the book as a whole. This is one that I recommend to all my friends because it really is that good. The book is only 187 pages and a quick read. One you won't regret. You don't have to like any of her other works to like this book. It's different from what she's wrote in the past. I hope that if you pick it up that you enjoy it as much as I did. *picture from google*

It was. It kept my attention the whole time. I made the mistake of starting it in the car while I was out with my parents and it irritated my mom to no end that I wouldn't look up from the book.

@samysotelo18 Sometimes I can and sometimes I can't. If we go on a long trip I can't. I can usually do about five to ten minutes before I start getting sick. I'm a fast reader though and this book was small compared to most.

@JordanLader I watched Fifty Shades of Gray on Netflix and really did not like it. No one can tell anyone when to stop grieving. It is a very personal thing.
