1707 - The first Parliament of Great Britain convenes.
1850 - The first National Women's Rights Convention begins in Worcester, Massachusetts.
1942 - Michael Crichton was born. He was an American director, producer and screenwriter. Michael Crichton is one of my favorite authors. He wrote in the science fiction, thriller and medical fiction genres. Some of his famous books: Andromeda Strain, Congo, Sphere, Jurassic Park, Disclosure and The Lost World. He has also written and directed such films as Westworld, Coma, Looker and Runaway. He died in 2008.
1959 - "Weird Al" Yankovic - He is an American singer, songwriter, comedian, actor, record producer, satirist, voice actor and author. He has been active from 1976 to the present time. He has sold more than 12 million albums and recorded more than 150 parody and original songs. He's won 5 Grammys and has had 4 gold and 6 platinum records.

Although I like Michael Crichton, I think that the most important things that happened today were those in 1707 and 1850
