The Bee Gees were a British-American pop music group formed in 1958. The group consisted of brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. They were active from 1958-2003 and 2009-2012. They wrote all of their own hits plus writing and producing major hits for other artists.
The turning point in their career came in 1977 with the release of the movie "Saturday Night Fever". More than 40 million copies of the soundtrack were sold. In 2010 it was the 4th highest-selling album worldwide. "Saturday Night Fever" won a Grammy for Album of the Year, among other awards.
The group has sold more than an amazing 220 million records worldwide, outsold only by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney.
Maurice passed away in 2003; and Robin in 2012. Barry now performs solo.
I love all the Bee Gees music; but it was easy to pick the big hit, "Stayin' Alive" which was in the opening sequence of "Saturday Night Fever".

They were born on the Isle of Man to English parents, and lived in Chorlton, Manchester until the late 1950s. The family then moved to Australia.

I enjoyed this group since their very first song about the coal mine disaster. Some of my favorite songs of all time are by the Bee Gees.

I love LOVE that song! I remember when it first came out and was on the radio, I fell in love with the song. I begged my Mom to take me to the record store to by the Stayin Alive album. She took me and I was so happy.
