World Lemur Day Frankenstein Friday 1984 - Katy Perry was born. She is an American singer, songwriter, television judge and actress. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager. Her first album "Katy Hudson" (under her birth name) in 2001 was unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles, changed her name to Katy Perry, changed to secular music and signed with Capitol Records in 2007. Her break came in 2008 with her second album, "One of the Boys", which was a pop rock genre. Her third album in 2010, "Teenage Dream", was the first by a female artist to produce 5 #1 hits in the U.S., second overall after Michael Jackson's "Bad" album.
