On the 1st day of Diwali, the festival of lights Hindus eat 14 types of spinach namely palak, lal sakh, kolmi sakh, pui sakh, methi sakh, to name a few. During this time of the year after the monsoon the bacteria and other germs become ever active. The consumption of the spinach provides vitamins which fight out the germs during Autumn.
