I was drawn to this book when I first saw it because the story starts in 1976 and this was a significant year for me because it was the year I left school and started work. This story is about two girls who would have been about the same age as I was then , so I thought that I would be able to identify with the main characters. However their lives were much different to the one that I was leading in 1976. The girls in the story ,Loo and Bee, were living in an old cottage in the middle of nowhere along with the rest of their family. Their parents were artistic people who moved to the country thinking that they would be able to live an idyllic lifestyle. They were wrong because the house they had moved into seemed to have its own secrets which affected the whole family. The next part of the story brings us into the present day and Loo is now a middle aged woman who goes back to her childhood home. There are other people there now and these people are interested to find out more about the cottage and the family who lived there during the long hot summer of 1976. But is Lucy able to face her own past and be open about what happened while she lived in the old cottage. This is a story belonging to the horror genre and it is the sort of book that I like to curl up with during the long cold winter evenings.

Perhaps you could read it sometime. It is the sort of story that would appeal to a lot of people, even those who do not read much.

@Hannihar It would not be of interest to people who do not like this sort of thing. What sort of books do you read?
