It was half-term last week and so Mumma and I travelled to the Czech Republic to visit my Big Brother and one of his babies. Well, she's nearly thirteen so not quite a baby. My older niece is currently in South America. I missed her.
*sad face*
We saw oodles of mushrooms, and yet I ate none. We drank very strong coffee with my SiL's parents in their tiny two roomed country abode. I ate duck for the first time. My goodness, it's yummy. I laughed at my brother's country cottage. It is not a cottage. It is a mansion.
We hiked up winding paths in rocky terrain. Such beauty in the countryside.
Back in Prague itself we visited the National Museum. Oh, how Mumma and I giggled at the translations in the Newspaper Print exhibition. I mean to say, who uses such words as pellucid and behemoth in these modern times? We laughed as we told my brother, the translator. My brother, the translator, was flummoxed. And embarrassed. Oh, you were the translator? Oopsies.
Perhaps he will forgive us our giggles and frivolity, in time.
Perhaps he won't.
We went people-watching in the Old Square, wallowed in nostalgia whilst bemoaning the loss of innocence of such a beautiful city, drank weak, barely drinkable tea ...
It was lovely.
Luv my bruv, I do.

I'm sad to have missed her, but so pleased that she's having these experiences. She's still at school ... they are given so many more opportunities in their education.

@Poppylicious You could get a job teaching English. Sounds like it might be worth considering.

It is a lovely country. Very clean. Easy to use public transport. Still very simple and traditional in the country, and friendly in the cities and larger towns. I'm tempted to move there myself!

@poppylicious Now that sounds like a sensible way to spend mid term.

Absolutely. We may spend February half-term in Wales. Not sure about the summer half-term yet though. Hmmm ...

Sounds like a fabulous and well-deserved break. Glad you had a lovely time. Prague is a beautiful city. Funny about the translations - but to answer your question, I know a lot of people who love to use less common words like that, @xFiacre springs to mind. he's also a great describer of destinations!

This is true, but more common men than him will be visiting the museum. We must keep the wordage simple so that they too can understand. And to be fair, it was a direct translation. My brother has been living there for more than half his life; he has forgotten how we speak. ;)

That is great that you went to visit your brother. Was that a long flight for you both? Sounds like you had a very good time.

Oh gosh, no. We're in England so the flight is only about an hour and a half, or just over. We all had a lovely time. :)
